Everthread — App Design, UI/UX & Brand Identity for Assistive Healthcare Technology

A complete brand identity, app design, and website for an assistive technology company redefining dignity in dementia care.

Everthread is an assistive technology company building intelligent support solutions for people living with dementia and cognitive decline.

Their flagship product — a discreet, AI-powered mobile app — helps individuals maintain independence and confidence in daily life through facial recognition, location awareness, medication management, and contextual prompts that activate only when memory fails.

TDS Australia was engaged to develop the complete brand identity, mobile app design, UI/UX design system, website design, and Figma design system from the ground up — creating a visual and experiential language worthy of the mission behind it.

The Challenge

Designing for people with cognitive challenges demands a fundamentally different approach to healthcare design. Every interaction must be intuitive without being patronising.

Every screen must feel warm without being childish. The technology needs to be powerful enough to recognise faces and track medications, yet invisible enough that the person using it never feels like a patient being managed.

The brand needed to walk a razor-thin line: warm yet sophisticated, capable yet humble, protective without being condescending. And it needed to do this across a complete ecosystem — from app icon to billboard, from onboarding screen to business card.

Brand Identity & Strategy

Everthread represents the continuous thread that binds us to our memories, our loved ones, and our sense of self.

The Name

Everthread represents the continuous thread that binds us to our memories, our loved ones, and our sense of self. Like thread woven through fabric, the technology works invisibly in the background, strengthening connections that cognitive decline threatens to unravel.

Logo Design

The Everthread logo mark features a circle representing wholeness and continuity, with a needle and thread symbolising the active work of maintaining and repairing essential connections. The logo was constructed on a precise grid system (5x × 9x proportional framework) with defined clear space rules and minimum size specifications down to 70px for digital use.

The mark was designed to perform flawlessly across contexts — from a 512×512px app icon through to environmental signage — adapting between light and dark versions depending on background contrast while maintaining legibility at every scale.

Voice & Tone

Everthread speaks with quiet confidence. The brand voice is clear, direct, and respectful — avoiding medical jargon and infantilising language entirely. Users are addressed as competent adults facing a specific challenge, not as patients who need managing. The tone sits firmly on the warm, friendly, simple, and casual end of the spectrum while retaining enough sophistication to command trust from healthcare professionals, families, and carers alike.

Colour System

The palette was crafted to evoke calm, nature, and human warmth — deliberately steering away from the cold clinical blues that dominate most healthcare design:

  • Aztec (#10231C) — Deep forest green anchoring trust and professionalism
  • Pale Olive Green (#B0D17B) — The brand’s signature colour, fresh and life-affirming
  • Sweet Rose (#F88F90) — Soft warmth and emotional connection
  • Natural Oak (#D1A47B) — Grounded, earthy, and familiar
  • Ivory (#FFFFF1) — Clean and calming without clinical sterility
  • Turquoise Aquagem (#7BC1D1) — Clarity and cognitive freshness

Each colour includes defined tint scales (100%, 60%, 40%, 20%) for flexible application across digital and print touchpoints.

Typography System

Three typeface families serve distinct roles across the ecosystem:

  • Kaleko 105 Round — Logo and printing. A soft, modern sans serif reflecting warmth, support, and human-centred care through its rounded forms.
  • DM Sans & Halyard Display — Web fonts. Geometric clarity and refined proportions for digital readability across devices.
  • SF Pro — App font. Apple’s system typeface ensuring native iOS legibility, trust, and seamless platform integration.

A complete type hierarchy was defined for each context — from 80pt H1 headings through to 10pt body text — ensuring consistency across every application.

App Design & UI/UX

The Everthread app was designed around a single principle: designed for adults, built with respect.

Design Philosophy

The Everthread app was designed around a single principle: designed for adults, built with respect. Every screen, every interaction, every micro-animation was considered through the lens of cognitive accessibility without ever compromising on visual sophistication.

Core Features Designed

Medication Schedule — Organises daily medications into Morning, Afternoon, and Evening time blocks, displaying drug name, dosage, instructions, and a photograph of actual packaging for easy visual identification.

Daily Health Check-In — A short daily questionnaire tracking sleep quality, appetite, and mood through simple language, clear response options (3–5 per question), and emoji-style icons that communicate without requiring reading comprehension.

Cognitive Exercises — Three brain-training games (Memory Match, Word Puzzle, and Number Game) with progressive difficulty levels, real-time performance tracking, and encouraging feedback. Designed to engage without frustrating.

Face Recognition — Discreet facial recognition identifies family, friends, and carers in real time, displaying the person’s name, relationship, and personal context — where they live, their family connections, how they stay in touch — before the conversation starts.

Location Awareness — Gentle orientation support when the person is out and about, providing guidance only when things feel unfamiliar.

UI/UX Approach

The interface uses generous whitespace, large tap targets, high-contrast text, and a card-based layout system that reduces cognitive load. Navigation is minimal and predictable. Colour coding supports recognition-over-recall principles throughout. The home screen greets users warmly (“Hello! I’ll help you remember your medications, track your health, and stay connected with the people who care about you.”) establishing the app as a companion, not a clinical tool.

The Figma design system was built with component-level precision — every button, card, modal, and state variant documented for seamless developer handoff and future scalability.

Web Development

The Everthread marketing website (everthread.one) was designed and developed to communicate the brand's mission with the same warmth and clarity as the app itself.

The site leads with the tagline “Remember what matters. We’ll help with the rest.” — immediately establishing emotional resonance before introducing features or technology.

Key sections communicate the product’s value proposition to three distinct audiences: individuals living with memory challenges, family members and carers, and healthcare professionals. The website header follows strict brand guidelines with logo placement on the far left, navigation aligned to the grid, and utility icons positioned right for visual balance.

The site was built with responsive performance, accessibility best practices, and SEO optimisation as foundational requirements — not afterthoughts.

Physical Applications & Collateral

The brand system extends into a complete suite of physical touchpoints.

  • Business Cards — Deep forest green and warm neutral tones with centred symbol, clean wordmark, and subtle embossed mark for tactile depth.
  • Letterhead — Clean structured layout with symbol anchoring the top left, contact details top right, and generous margins supporting calm visual flow.
  • Envelopes — Bold contrast exterior in forest green with refined interior reveal featuring a cream-toned symbol framed by triangular closure geometry.
  • Merchandise — Baseball caps and mugs across six brand colourways, all maintaining logo integrity and clear space requirements.

Environmental & Advertising

The brand was extended into large-format outdoor advertising — billboards and transit posters — carrying the headline “Designed for adults. Built with respect.” alongside app screen mockups. The environmental applications demonstrate the brand’s ability to command attention at scale while maintaining the warmth and dignity that define Everthread’s identity.

The Result

Everthread launches with a brand identity and product design system that proves healthcare technology doesn't have to look or feel clinical.

The complete ecosystem — from app interaction to billboard — speaks with one voice: warm, confident, respectful, and deeply human.

In a market expected to serve over 150 million people with dementia by 2050, Everthread sets a new standard for what assistive technology design can be. Technology that empowers rather than diminishes. Design that treats people as whole human beings, not conditions to be managed.
